Who we are

Eros Florist is a family-run florist in Pretoria, trading from 345 Festival Street, Hatfield. We sell flowers and gifts directly to our customers, in our shop and through this website at floristonline.co.za.

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the website or place an order, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It is written to meet our obligations under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What information we collect

• Order details: your name, email address and telephone number, the billing address, the delivery address, the recipient’s name and telephone number, the message you ask us to write on the card, and the date you choose for delivery or collection.
• Account details: if you create an account, the username and password you choose and any addresses you save.
• Enquiries: whatever you send us through the contact form, by email or on WhatsApp.
• Website usage: your IP address, the type of browser and device you use, the pages you view and how you reached us. This is collected automatically through cookies.

How we use your information

• To prepare, deliver and invoice your order.
• To contact you about an order — for example to confirm a delivery, or if a flower is unavailable and we need to suggest a substitute.
• To give our driver what they need to find the recipient and hand over the flowers.
• To keep the sales records that South African tax law requires us to keep.
• To answer your questions.
• To understand how the website is used, so that we can improve it.

We will not send you marketing email unless you have asked us to, and every marketing email we do send carries an unsubscribe link.

Payments

Card payments are handled for us by Payfast and Adumo. When you pay by card you enter your card details on their secure page, and they tell us only whether the payment succeeded. We never see or store your card number, expiry date or CVV.

If you pay by EFT, we see the proof of payment you send us and the reference that appears on our bank statement.

Cookies and website measurement

Our website uses cookies to keep your basket working, to remember your preferences and to measure how the site is used. We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, and a Meta (Facebook) pixel, which means Google and Meta receive information about your visit. Who we share your information with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing. We share it only where we have to in order to run the shop:

• Our delivery drivers, who are given the recipient’s name, address and telephone number.
• Our payment providers, Payfast and Adumo, to process card payments.
• Our website host and email provider, who store the information on our behalf.
• Google and Meta, through the cookies described above.
• Our accountant and the South African Revenue Service, where the law requires it.

A word about the recipient: when you send flowers to someone else, you give us their name, address and telephone number. We use those details only to make the delivery, and we ask that you have their permission to give them to us.

How long we keep your information

We keep order records for five years, because South African tax law requires it. Account details are kept for as long as you keep the account. Contact-form messages and email enquiries are kept for as long as they are useful and then deleted. Website measurement data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics.

How we protect your information

The whole website runs over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, access to order information is limited to the people in the shop who need it, and the site is kept updated and protected by security software. No system is ever perfectly secure, but if a breach did affect your personal information we would tell you and the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, give you a copy of it, correct anything that is wrong, delete information we no longer have a reason to keep, or stop using your information for marketing.

Write to info@floristonline.co.za and we will respond as quickly as we can. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at enquiries@inforegulator.org.za.

Children

Our website and our shop are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version on this page is always the one that applies. Last updated: 24 September 2026.
